# WeChat Reader MCP

> A local, dependency-free Python MCP server to read WeChat / Weixin Official Account article URLs (微信公众号文章). Integrates with Codex, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and compatible local stdio MCP hosts. Includes a browser export fallback and a DeepSeek-compatible API summary example.

## Capability boundaries

Model-independent tool, not a hosted model service. Model APIs require a separate key and may incur costs. Provider web chats do not gain local MCP access automatically. Successful reader output requires a nonempty body and isError=false. Verification/blocked/deleted articles may not be retrievable. Respect host restrictions; use imported_only=true for explicitly blocked URLs and accept user exports only. No OCR, native image blocks, video/audio extraction or automatic challenge bypass. GUI integrations and paid model APIs have not all been live-tested.
